The Rate of the Reaction between Cn and at Interstellar 22 Temperatures
نویسندگان
چکیده
The rate coefficient for the important interstellar reaction between CN and has been calculated 22 as a function of temperature between 10 and 300 K. The potential surface for this reaction has been determined through ab initio quantum chemical techniques ; the potential exhibits no barrier in the entrance channel but does show a small exit channel barrier, which lies below the energy of reactants. Phase-space calculations for the reaction dynamics, which take the exit channel barrier into account, show the same unusual temperature dependence as determined by experiment, in which the rate coefficient at Ðrst increases as the temperature is reduced below room temperature and then starts to decrease as the temperature drops below 50È100 K. The agreement between theory and experiment provides strong conÐrmation that the reaction occurs appreciably at cool interstellar temperatures. The Rate of the Reaction between and at Interstellar
The reaction between the radical and the stable hydrocarbon is one of the simplest 2 22 neutral-neutral hydrocarbon reactions in chemical models of dense interstellar clouds and carbon-rich circumstellar shells. Although known to be rapid at temperatures o300 K, the reaction has yet to be studied at lower temperatures. We present here ab initio calculations of the potential surface for this rea...

The charge-transfer complexation reaction between iodine and dibenzo- 18-crown- 6 (DB18C6) has been studied spectrophotometrically in chloroform solution at different temperatures. The resulting donor-acceptor complex was formulated as (DB 18C6…I )I . The spectrophotometric results , as well as the conductivity measurements, indicated that the gradual release of tiiodide ion from its contac...
متن کاملKinetics and mechanism of the reaction of lysine with permanganate ion at different ionic strengths and temperatures
The kinetics of Mn(VII) oxidation of lysine in moderately sulfuric acid solutions was studiedspectrophotometrically in the presence and absence of Mn(II) as catalyst. The reaction was arrangedto be under pseudo first-order condition with respect to Mn(VII). The results showed that the pseudofirst-order rate constant increases with increasing [H2SO4], [(Mn)II], and [lysine]. The dependence ofthe...
متن کاملProducts of the Self-Reaction of HCO Radicals: Theoretical Kinetics Studies
The mechanism of the self-reaction of HCO radicals is investigated by using high-level quantum-chemical methods including M05-2X, CCSD, CCSD(T) and CRCC(2,3). Next, the rate coefficients for several product channels as a function of pressure and temperature are computed by employing statistical rate theories. Four important product channels are predicted to be CO + CO + H2, HCOH + OH, cis-(HCO)...
متن کاملTemperature dependence for the CN+NH3 reaction under interstellar conditions: beyond capture theories?
The reaction between the radical CN and NH3 is representative of the important class of radical-neutral reactions that proceed rapidly at low temperature, due to strong inverse temperature dependences. Such reactions are assumed to be of great importance in the gas-phase chemistry of dense interstellar clouds; unfortunately, their temperature dependence is poorly understood theoretically. We es...
